Site history
The pictures above describe the construction of the BT tower adjacent to our site, it is interesting to see the shuttering being fitted around the Re bars at the base. Some of the photographs show some areas of our site including the lower locks. In comparison to todays construction sites consideration for health and safety was extremely low, notice the open scaffolding, workers with no hard hats, areas that are just sheer drops.

Site Plan
I conducted a linear survey of the site this allowed me to acurately plot the site in detail. When planning a project like this it is crucial to have as much infomation as possible. From this set of dimensions I drew the site plan below as a group we then built a model of the site.
Noise mapping
It is important to consider the environmental factors surrounding the site, in this case I have looked at noise from sources such as industrial processes and vehicular traffic. It is crucial to understand the negative effects of nuisance noises and what measures can be taken to avoid or minimise exposure.
Potential sources of industrial pollution around our site.
It is important to recognise the industrial heritage of Birmingham as a whole, standards of pollution control have varied throughout this period so it is possible that a site could be contaminated with potentially harmful pollutants. It is important to know the history of a site before construction can commence minimising the risks involved. Building on contaminated sites could lead to costly remedial work.
